Bankruptcy

Baton Rouge and LaPlace, Louisiana Bankruptcy Attorneys

Financial times are tough for everyone right now. And for many of us, overwhelming debt, family expenses, unexpected medical bills coupled with the loss or reduction in household income can make paying the monthly bills an impossible task. Eventually, the stress of checking your own mail box or even answering your own phone can become too much stress to bear. In the end, some creditors may seek repossession of your property, foreclosure on your home and/or garnishment of your wages.

Fortunately, our government has long recognized the need to help people like you and the US Bankruptcy laws exist for the sole purpose of affording financial relief to those in your situation by providing a fresh financial start. As a federally designated debt relief agency, the experienced attorneys at Bacchus Law Group can help you file for bankruptcy protection.

Contact the firm to discuss your bankruptcy needs. Call the Baton Rouge office at 225-615-7774 or the LaPlace office at 985-651-5421 to schedule your free telephone consultation.

The Importance of a Bankruptcy Consultation

Many people are very misinformed about what Bankruptcy really is and what it can do for them. Despite the media hype surrounding the bankruptcy reform of 2005 or the irrational stigma attached to Bankruptcy, most people still benefit greatly from the filing of a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy. A consultation tailored to your specific financial situation with an experienced attorney of Bacchus Law Group may save you thousands of dollars, your home, your car and more importantly, your sanity.

The attorneys of Bacchus Law Group meet with Louisiana citizens every day who leave our offices surprised to learn that they can eliminate their debt and, in most cases, still keep their home, car and personal possessions. Even if a Chapter 13 repayment plan is the right option for you, many people are surprised to know that you can still obtain a discharge of some, if not all, of your unsecured debt.

Bankruptcy is never anyone's first choice, but for many of us, it is both the only choice and the right choice. If you truly a desire a fresh financial start, schedule an appointment today with an experienced bankruptcy attorney at Bacchus Law Group. If you already know that you would like to file bankruptcy and want us to get started on your case directly after the consultation, please download, print and fully complete the attached Bankruptcy Questionnaire and Required Document List.

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy is that portion of the Bankruptcy code which affords debtors the opportunity to eliminate most, if not all, of their unsecured debt. And in many cases, you can retain your home, car and personal belongings. For more information and frequently asked questions, click FAQ.

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is that portion of the Bankruptcy code which affords debtors the opportunity to repay all, or a portion, of their debts over a period of time. The majority of debtors interested in a Chapter 13 plan are those who are late on their mortgage and/or car payments but want to keep those assets and need time to catch up. The advantage of a Chapter 13 is that an "automatic stay" will prevent creditors from further contacting you and it will cease foreclosure, repossession and any garnishments. Again, even if you file under Chapter 13, you can still obtain a discharge of some, if not most, of your unsecured debt. For more information and frequently asked question about Chapter 13, click FAQ.

Credit Counseling/Debtor Education Requirement

Under the new Bankruptcy laws, debtors are now required to take a credit counseling and debtor education course. But don't fret, Bacchus Law Group utilizes the convenient services of an internet based course to allow you the convenience of doing so from your home. Please see http://www.startfreshtoday.com/ to get started. Please note: when asked for an "attorney code" please input RL4722...this will allow us to obtain your certificate of completion prior to filing your bankruptcy. Also, we recommend that you purchase both courses together in order to save you money. Lastly, please know that you may complete both courses simultaneously regardless of being titled pre and post filing courses.
